Poor Finn got lost and showed up just in time to hear the route description. If she’d known the description was gonna take that long she’d have had time to warm up and all. But hey, credit where it’s due; the race marking and description were spot on. Poor Archie (race director) looked under serious pressure, before and after the race.

Anyway there’s very little point in me trying to describe this route cos I know I’ll mix it all up, and I was on autopilot for most of it anyway. But I remember a climb at the start, which seemed comfortable enough and then a long flat stretch. I remember coming across Martin Francis on the climb and thinking he’s having a bad day if he’s back here with me! Anyway eventually we end up in a forest where everyone bailed past me as I tiptoed my way through the branches and knee deep mud.  A few loops later and I’d caught some of them, even a river crossing to negotiate too! I was kinda enjoying this one! Few more loops and climbs, even meeting Eug, Tony and Finn en route, till all we’ve got left is a couple of miles of downhill and we’re home. I wish I had a photo of the thousand midges covering my belly, it was gross! Instead here’s a few Tony took with my cameraphone. Click here for results.
